Recession affects commerce and industry
2019 seems to be a recessionary year. The auto industry in India is in the doldrums and thousands of people have been laid off. This happens to workers as well as engineers. The picture in the IT segment is equally dismal. Downsizing is the trend and even management personnel find themselves sidelined. In this scenario those who take up engineering or IT or management studies face the unpleasant reality of not being able to find jobs. Even if they do, the pay scale is low and there is no job security. Accountants can simply use their skills and knowledge and invest in a computer to get started.

An accountant is never out of work. Students are realizing this and the smarter ones are opting to make a career in finance and accounting, which accounts for the growth of accounting courses in 2019. This trend is likely to continue.
